Early access and closed beta
Privacy and analytics note
This is a practical privacy note, not a long legal policy. Fret Master uses a small amount of data to understand whether the product is useful and to contact people who asked for early access or joined the closed beta.
What is collected
- Product analytics events such as page views, lesson starts and completions, unavailable lesson hits, game runs, and review sessions.
- A beta tester ID when your invite URL includes one, stored in the
fm_beta_testercookie and attached to analytics and feedback submissions. - Your rating, written feedback, optional activity description, and basic context when you use the feedback button: route, app version, commit, tester ID, viewport, and display mode.
- Error reports and sampled replay diagnostics if Sentry is configured for the deployment.
- Your email address if you joined the early-access list, gave it for beta contact, or send feedback by email.
- Your learning progress, linked to your signed-in account and stored in Fret Master's Supabase database. A local browser copy keeps progress usable while offline and syncs again when the connection returns.
Fret Master does not ask beta testers for sensitive personal information.
Tools and location
Account details, learning progress, and early-access email addresses are stored in Fret Master's database, hosted by Supabase. Product analytics uses PostHog Cloud EU with autocapture disabled. Error diagnostics use Sentry when configured for the deployment. The beta access cookie lasts up to 180 days unless the access key is rotated sooner.
Retention
Early-access, beta analytics, and invite/contact records are kept only while they are useful for deciding what to improve and running the launch. They will be reviewed when the beta ends. Raw beta notes, exports, and tester contact lists should not be kept for more than 12 months unless there is a clear product or support reason. Launch and beta emails include a way to unsubscribe.
