Personal Experience Tips-&-Tricks Please be patient the pictures take a bit to load.
There are many effects plug-ins out there that can make your life a lot easier in the recording department but I haven't really found anything that does a great job of "widening" your sound..you know, getting a great stereo feel. Of course I have not used nearly all the plug-ins available either, because a lot of them cost an arm & leg. This is a trick I figured out just for that purpose that usually works quite well. I can't remember if this works in Sonar or any other Cakewalk distro but I know it works in Pro Audio 9. Now if you record one track per take (say track 1 for guitar) and not two tracks per take (tracks 1 and 2 for guitar) then you'll need to copy your track and paste it directly underneath the original. like this: Left click the track, this will highlight it like this:
then right click on the highlighted track and click on copy, (hit ok on the pop up box) like this:
then you will highlight the track you want to paste your copied track to by clicking on the track number located to the far left and right clicking in the tracks area and clicking paste. a box will pop up, just fill in the "Starting at Time" field with a zero like this:
hit ok and your track is now pasted below the original. Now you will highlight both of the tracks by left clicking on the first one holding down control and at the same time left click the second track. It should now look like this:
Now right click over one of the two selected tracks and click on audio, like this:
